About

The Wisconsin Transportation Bulletin number 11 names compaction the simplest, most economical method of increasing a road’s life.  Compaction increases the density of the road and helps it form a more water resistant crust on its surface to speed drainage.  This is typically the last step we perform on a gravel road or driveway, and it cements the fines in the gravel to the aggregates.  You need to have the right amount of dynamic force to properly compact a gravel road and our 6.5-foot vibratory roller generates 11,903lbs of dynamic force and we compact every inch of the road.  You just cannot get that level of performance from a dump truck driving on the road as it tailgate-spreads some gravel.
